From the very beginning, it was obvious that I had no chance of getting signed by a label. I’m a nobody - no background, no experience, and no name in the industry. Fortunately, it’s easier than ever these days to release your music independently, even if you’re completely unknown.

The Reality of Independent Music

But this independence comes with a catch - just like me, anyone can release music now. And they do. Every day more than 100.000 new songs are uploaded to Spotify. The chances of your track getting lost in the noise are, frankly, quite high.

I understand that now - but when I released my first track, I was full of hope. I truly believed that somehow, out of nowhere, people would discover it, love it, and that my name would suddenly become known in the Eurodance scene. That dream came crashing down quickly - but that’s a story for another post.

Finding the Right Voices

The instrumental for I Will Be There was nearly finished months before. It came from a strange burst of inspiration and was almost forgotten soon after. When I finally decided to release it, my original plan was to use a Vocaloid for the vocal track and call it a day. But it became obvious very quickly - Vocaloid technology wasn’t quite there yet. It didn’t sound lifelike enough.

So I hired a female singer from Spain on Fiverr - and later a male vocalist as well - who both recorded their parts based on the Vocaloid version. Suddenly, the track had real human voices. It started to feel alive.

The Mixing Challenge

Mixing, however, was a different story. I struggled with it for weeks. I tried everything I could, but in the end, the result still sounded amateur. And then I reached a critical decision point - either I release it as it is and promise myself the next one will be better, or I never release anything at all.

So, last summer, the time came. I designed the cover art, uploaded everything, and released I Will Be There.

Choosing a Distributor

I chose DistroKid as my distributor. The process was smooth, and within a few hours, my song was live on all major platforms.

Then came the next phase - I started sharing the song with everyone I knew. And waited for success…
